General building

Renovations, refurbishments, extensions and structural alterations. The jobs that need several trades at once, run under one contract.

The jobs between the trades

Some work fits neatly inside one trade. Most of it does not. A renovation touches structure, plaster, carpentry and the roofline in the same month. General building is our name for those jobs: the ones that need a contractor, not a list of subcontractors to manage yourself.

We take them from strip-out or footings through to decoration-ready, our own teams on the core trades and one programme across the lot.

Where we are brought in

Renovations & refurbishments

Whole rooms, whole floors or whole buildings brought back into good order: strip-out, repair, re-plan and finish.

Extensions

Single and double storey extensions taken from footings and blockwork through to plastered, decorated rooms.

Structural alterations

Openings formed, walls removed and steels installed to the engineer's design, with the making good priced in from the start.

Brickwork & blockwork

Facing brickwork, blockwork, repairs and alterations, matched as closely as possible to what is already there.

Why it works

One contract, every trade

On a multi-trade job, the gaps between trades are where time and money leak: the plasterer waiting on the carpenter, the roofer blaming the builder, three invoices for one problem. We close those gaps by running every trade under one contract, one programme and one point of contact.

Each trade also stands on its own. If your job is narrower than a full build, go straight to the service.

The finished job

How an extension comes together

Bright kitchen extension with bifold doors open to the garden, roof lanterns above and a herringbone floor

A kitchen extension is structure first: footings, blockwork, steels and a roof that holds up. The bifolds, the lanterns and the floor are the last part of a job that was decided months earlier.

Garden room extension with a glazed lantern roof, polished concrete floor and full-width sliding doors

Garden rooms and single storey extensions live on light, so the glazing, the roof lantern and the floor build-up are planned together rather than picked once the shell is already up.

Questions we are asked

What counts as general building work?

The jobs that need several trades at once: extensions, refurbishments, conversions and repairs that cross from one trade into another.

Do we need to hire each trade separately?

No. One contract covers the whole job. We sequence our own roofing, plastering, carpentry and plumbing so the work runs in the right order.

Can you take on a project as principal contractor?

Yes. We plan the programme, run the site day to day and hand over a finished building. Our current warehouse conversion runs exactly this way.

What areas do you cover for building work?

Our heartland is Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Derby and the Midlands, and we take on work across England. Tell us where the property is and we will give you a straight answer on whether we can cover it.

Tell us about the whole job, not trade by trade

Send the whole job as one enquiry. If it needs several trades, that is exactly the work we quote for, the work our live warehouse conversion runs on every day.
