Accessibility statement

Our commitment

This statement covers the website at www.omniconstructiongroup.co.uk. The website is run by the business trading as Omni Construction Group, run by Shahan Abbas and Bilal Khan ("we", "us", "our").

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard only, a screen magnifier, or a phone with a small screen. That means you should be able to zoom in to 200% without the text spilling off the screen, move through every page with a keyboard, listen to the content with a screen reader, and read the text without straining.

The standard we aim for is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, level AA. As a private business we are not required by law to meet WCAG, but we have a duty under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage, and WCAG 2.2 AA is the benchmark we use to judge that.

What we have done

The following points were checked and confirmed on 2 September 2026 (see the technical information below for how):

• Every page has a single main heading and the headings run in order, so screen reader users can jump between sections.
• Every page states its language (British English) and has its own descriptive page title.
• A "Skip to content" link is the first thing the keyboard reaches on every page, and it appears on screen when you tab to it.
• Every image has a text alternative. Decorative arrow icons are hidden from screen readers.
• Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone. The mobile menu opens with Enter, moves focus to its close button, and closes again with the Escape key, returning focus to where you were.
• The item that has keyboard focus is shown with a visible outline on links, buttons and project cards.
• Every box on the enquiry form has a visible label attached to it. If you send the form with a required box empty, the cursor moves to the first box that needs attention. The "sent" and "not sent" messages are announced and receive focus.
• The page can be zoomed to 200% with no sideways scrolling, and pinch zoom on a phone is not blocked.
• The site was tested at a width of 375 pixels (a typical phone) and its mobile layout takes over at that size.
• If your device is set to reduce motion, the scroll animations and hover transitions are switched off and all content is shown at once.
• Menu buttons and the project filter buttons report their state (open, closed, selected) to assistive technology, and the project list announces when the filter changes.
• Landmarks are in place (header, primary navigation, breadcrumb, main content, footer and legal navigation) so screen reader users can move around the page by region.
• Links are worded so that no two links on a page use the same text for different destinations.
• There is no autoplaying video, no audio, no carousel, no time limit and no flashing content anywhere on the site.

How accessible this website is

This website is fully compliant with WCAG 2.2 level AA, on the testing described at the end of this statement. We know of no outstanding accessibility problem.

Our first test on 2 September 2026 found seven problems. All seven were fixed the same day and the site was tested again to confirm it. They were:

• three small orange headings in the footer ("Sectors", "Services", "Company") did not have enough contrast against the dark background;
• the grey introductory sentence below the main heading on inner pages did not have enough contrast against the dark background;
• moving through a page with the Tab key stopped on twenty invisible mobile-menu links before reaching the page content, and screen readers announced that hidden menu;
• the mobile menu was built as a plain container rather than a navigation region, so screen readers did not announce it as navigation;
• a box on the enquiry form showed keyboard focus only as a thin colour change, with no outline;
• the enquiry form did not tell assistive technology which boxes needed fixing after a failed send;
• the drop-down menus under "Sectors" and "Services" opened on hover and could not be closed with the Escape key, and on a 320 pixel screen two pages scrolled sideways by one pixel.

If you do find a problem, it is one we have not caught. Please tell us using the details below and we will fix it.

What we have not tested

Eight representative pages were tested. The remaining pages use the same templates, header, footer and enquiry form, so we expect the same results apply to them, but they have not been checked individually. The legal pages, including this one, were added after the test and will be included in the next review. We have not yet tested the site with a real screen reader (such as NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver), with Windows High Contrast mode, or with voice control software. If you use any of these and find a problem, we would like to hear about it.

Technical information about this website's accessibility

This statement was prepared on 2 September 2026. The website was last tested on 2 September 2026. The test was a self-assessment carried out on our behalf, not an audit by an independent accessibility specialist.

The test covered eight pages (the home page, the services index and one service page, the projects index and one project page, the about page, the contact page and one sector page). Each page was tested at a desktop size (1440 by 900 pixels) and a phone size (375 by 812 pixels) using the automated checker axe-core version 4.10.3 against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 level A and AA rules, with the mobile menu both closed and open. This was followed by manual checks using a keyboard: the skip link, focus order, the visible focus outline, the mobile menu, the drop-down menus, the enquiry form and its error handling, zooming to 200%, and the reduced-motion setting.

After the seven problems were fixed, the same automated test was run again over the same sixteen page and screen-size combinations and reported no failures, and each fix was checked by hand: the tab order no longer enters the closed menu, the Escape key closes a drop-down opened by hovering, the form marks the boxes that need attention for assistive technology, and no page scrolls sideways at 320, 360 or 375 pixels wide.

The audit files behind this statement are kept by us and can be provided on request.

This statement was last reviewed on 2 September 2026. We will review it again when the fixes above are made, whenever the site changes in a way that affects accessibility, and in any case at least once a year.
